Answer:

To provide nourishment to the developing embryo.

Explanation:

The heart starts functioning in the third week of embryo development. The heart is a circulatory organ. It supplies nutrients, oxygen to different cells and carries carbon dioxide, other waste materials from the embryo. The heart is the first organ to start functioning because it has to circulate blood which brings nourishment from the endothelial cells to other parts of the embryo. Otherwise, the embryo will die by depriving of oxygen. That's the very reason heart starts pumping first.

Describe the cycling of carbon in the carbon cycle as it passes through the living and non-living components of the ecosystem.
slamgirl [31]

Answer:

The carbon cycle is nature's way of reusing carbon atoms, which travel from the atmosphere into organisms in the Earth and then back into the atmosphere over and over again. Most carbon is stored in rocks and sediments, while the rest is stored in the ocean, atmosphere, and living organisms.

Cell cycle checkpoints are an important feature of a dividing cell to reduce errors that can occur in various stages of the cell
saveliy_v [14]

Loss of Rb, an important part of the G1-S transition checkpoint, can result in uncontrolled cell cycle progression and cancer. All of the following would mimic loss of Rb except constitutively active Ras GTPase activating protein. Correct answer: letter E.

Constitutively active Ras GTPase activating protein would not mimic loss of Rb, because it would not directly result in uncontrolled cell cycle progression.

What is Retinoblastoma (RB)?

Rb is an important tumor suppressor protein that works to inhibit cell cycle progression by preventing the activation of E2F transcription factors. Constitutively active Ras GTPase activating protein would not directly interfere with the Rb-E2F pathway, which is necessary for uncontrolled cell cycle progression and cancer.
