Hypothesize what would happen if the sister chromatids did not split equally during anaphase of mitosis.

Biology

Answer:

Sometimes during anaphase, chromosomes will fail to separate properly. This is called nondisjunction. Nondisjunction results in cells with abnormal numbers of chromosomes. Instead, one pair of sister chromatids failed to split, resulting in one cell with 5 chromosomes and one cell with 3 chromosomes.

Explanation:

To get ready for mitosis, a cell must first undergo DNA replication during interphase. This process duplicates every strand of DNA so that there are two copies of every chromosome. The two copies are called sister chromatids and are attached at the centromere.

Once DNA replication is complete, nuclear division proceeds in four stages:

Prophase: chromosomes become visible, nuclear envelope disappears, kinetochores and spindle fibers form.

Metaphase: chromosomes align in the center of the cell at the metaphase plate.

Anaphase: chromosomes move outwards, towards opposite poles of the cell.

Telophase: reverse of prophase.

Each sister chromatid of a chromosome has spindle fibers attached to it. These spindle fibers begin to shorten and pull the sister chromatids apart at the centromere. This process of is called disjunction. Now each chromatid is called a daughter chromosome or just a chromosome.

The spindle fibers continue to shorten and move towards opposite ends or poles of the cell. There are also two distinct sets of chromosomes now, and each daughter cell will get one set.

For most women, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends exclusive breast-feeding for the first 6 months of the baby’s life
Naily [24]

Answer:

3- Breast-feeding can reduce an infant’s risk of infection, allergies, and certain chronic diseases.

.4- All mothers should consume 500 kcal extra daily while breast-feeding until weaning of the infant.

5- Women with AIDS or active tuberculosis should feed formula rather than breast-feed.

Explanation:

Breastfeeding is also a great benefit to the environment and society, that is, it does not require the use of energy for manufacturing or create waste or air pollution. Also, there is no risk of contamination and it is always at the right temperature and ready to feed. Given the importance of breastfeeding for the health of mothers and babies, Centers for Disease Control and prevention supports breastfeeding through hospital initiatives, work-site accommodation, continuity of care and community support initiatives. Colostrum is the earliest breast-milk produced, beginning in mid-pregnancy (12-18 weeks) and is continually produced for the first few days after baby's birth, it provides all the nutrients and fluid that your newborn needs in the early days, as well as many substances to protect your baby against infections. Mothers with untreated and active tuberculosis infections are not advised to breastfeed. They may breastfeed after their infection is cured or brought under control so that it does not spread to the infant.
