Area of the triangle is 1/2 ( b * h) so
1/2 (12 * 14)
12 *14 = 168 then 168 * 1/2 = 84 so the area of the full triangle is 84cm but to get just the shaded area subtract the full triangle area and the squares area.

area of a square is ( b * h ) so 3.5 * 3.5 = 12.25

so the triangles area is 84 cm - 12.25 = 71.75

answer is D 71.75 cm

Given: PK and PF tangent to circle k(O) K and F points of tangency

Prove: m∠P=m∠EK
snow_lady [41]

Answer:

See explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

If PK and PF are tangent to the circle, then the radii OK and OF are perpendicular to the lines PK and PF respectively.

Consider quadrilateral PFOK. The sum of the measures of all interior angles in quadrilateral PFOK is equal to 360°. Since OK and OF are perpendicular to the lines PK and PF, you have that

∠FOK+90°+∠KPF+90°=360°,

∠FOK=360°-90°-90°-∠KPF=180°-∠KPF.

Angles FOK and KOE are supplementary angles, then

∠KOE=180°-∠FOK=180°-(180°-∠KPF)=∠KPF.

Since angle KOE is central angle, the arc EK has the same measure as angle KOE and as angle KPF.

When solving a word problem, what step should you always do after reading the problem, but prior to writing the equation?
vodomira [7]
When solving a word problem, it is always important to make sure you actually understand what's going on. It helps to spend some time making sure you assign the proper variables to each part of the problem before attempting to solve it.
