Cladogram is a diagram that tells the relationships between different groups of taxa called “clades”. Cladogram gives phylogeny (evolutionary history) of the taxa. The organisms which share derived characteristics are grouped together while constructing a cladogram. Jelly fish is a cnidarian share common characteristics such as radial symmetry, simple tissues and no body organs with other members like corals and sea anemones.

Why the bass and crayfish benefit from an increased level of phosphate, initially, but then die off
omeli [17]

Answer:

Increased levels of phosphate are beneficial to phytoplankton and aquatic plants. In the short-run, this means increased micronutrients for herbivorous and omnivorous fish.

The phosphate, however, reacts with the water to reduce the oxygen levels obtainable in the water. Without oxygen, the fishes die off.

It is not unusual to find that with increased phosphate in water, healthy fishes begin to die off without any other plausible explanation.

The solution is to clean the water or treat it with solutions that impact positively whilst reducing the phosphate levels.

Cheers!

Describe the pros and cons of the treatments used for each of the sickle cell anemia patients investigated in this activity.
notka56 [123]
Sickle cell anemia is caused by an abnormal hemoglobin in red blood cells. hemoglobin is the red pigment found in red blood cells for carrying oxygen. The abnormality arises from a genetic mutation in the DNA gene that codes for the beta chain of the protein called globin of which hemoglobin is made of.In the beta chain, the sixth amino acid called glutamine is replaced by another one called valine. This one change in the amino acids cause the hemoglobin protein to behave abnormally, causing red blood cells to lose their normal spherical shape and become bent like a sickle, hence the name "sickle cell" anemia

Discuss why prokaryotic cells probably appeared before eukaryotic cells
dsp73

Answer:

Prokaryotes are smaller and less developed compared to eukaryotes. Some of them inhabit very primitive environments that resemble earth’s early stages. Endosymbiotic theory states that eukaryotes arose by the endosymbiosis of prokaryotes.

Explanation

By endosymbiont theory, eukaryotic cells arise from prokaryotic cells. Here, the theory shows that eukaryotic ancestors lived in close association with prokaryotes, wherein in some cases, prokaryotes have been engulfed and might have lived inside eukaryotes.

Upon being engulfed by a host cell as undigested prey, these prokaryotes could have been internal parasites of the eukaryotes. But, later on, their relationship becomes mutualistic and these prokaryotes become incorporated as organelles, such as in the case of chloroplasts and mitochondria, which were previously separate prokaryotes
