Sexually-reproducing species have an advantage over asexually-reproducing species in their ability to
maw [93]

The sexual reproduction helps in having more variation among the offsprings. It also makes the offsprings more resistant to genetic diseases.

Explanation:

Sexual reproduction is the process by which the gametes of the species fused together to form zygote which develops into an offspring. This offspring produced has the gene from both the parents . This genetic setup is not only copied from the parents but they undergo the crossing over and independent assortment which leads to variation among the offspring itself as well as they differ from their parents too.

This variation among the offspring as well as the crossing over helps to eleminate the lethal genes from the genetic pool. Thereby they help to get more resistance among the offsprings from diseases.

Investigator Benton uses several methods to analyze hair samples found at the crime scene. He examines the physical features of
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer:

Medulla.

By analyzing the DNA extracted from the hair follicle, the medullary index and the pattern of medulla in the hair samples obtained from a crime scene, an investigator can identify the owner.

Explanation:

The hair consists of follicle and shaft. The follicle is the part of the skin, where the hair grows and the hair shaft has three layers: an inner medulla, a cortex, and an outer cuticle.

The morphology (physical characteristics) of hair provides a broad detail on the racial background of an individual and an investigator can identify a group of people who share similar traits. But the hair without follicle cells attached to it, cannot be used to identify a specific individual. If the follicle of a hair is present, then it can lead to individual identification by DNA analysis. Also the medulla of animals is larger than that in the humans. By comparing the medullary index (the ratio of the diameter of the medulla to the diameter of the entire hair), it can be determined if the hair obtained from crime scene belongs to animals or humans. The macroscopic (length, color, and curliness) and microscopic characteristics ( pattern of the medulla, pigmentation of the cortex, and types of scales on the cuticle) of the hair samples are studied during a crime investigation. If the entire hair follicle (follicular tag) is present in the hair samples found at the crime scene, the blood and tissue attached to the follicle is extracted and analyzed using DNA profiling. DNA analysis of the hair follicle provides an identification with greater accuracy than the hair shaft.

5. There is a solid wooden table with a cup of water sitting on it. Which of the following statements
White raven [17]

Answer: Option D.

The atoms and molecules of the liquid water are moving, and the atoms and molecules of the

table are not moving.

Explanation:

The atoms and molecules of the liquid water are moving, and the atoms and molecules of the table are not moving and this is because the atoms and molecules of liquid water are closely packed together and they collide to each other often, thereby moving in random motion in all directions.

The molecules of solid cannot move because they are closely packed together and there is a very strong of attraction which make them to only vibrate and not move and this make solid to have definite shape.

4. A bacterium is discovered with new mutated form of isocitrate dehydrogenase that catalyzes the same reaction but produces hyd
Ksju [112]
Isocitrate + NAD+ -> a-ketoglutarate + CO2 + H2

The amount of ATP produced from one molecule of glucose will decrease because NADH is no longer produced in the isocitrate dehydrogenase reaction. Without generation of this high energy electron carrier there will be less electrons from one molecule of glucose that are transferred to and through the electron transport chain. So there will be less protons (H+ ions) pumped into the intermembrane space. So there will be less of a H+ ion gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane to drive the synthesis of ATP by ATP synthase.
