The Zhou believed That the "lord on high" had commanded the downfall of the Shang.

Conquerors from Zhou invaded the capital  of Shang and succeeded in overthrowing the Shang Dynasty, so that it was ended in 1050 BCE. The reason was that the Zhou believed that the Shang king was evil and that heaven's will was that he does not rule anymore. Consequently, the Chinese Zhou dynasty began and lasted longer than any other dynasty in China.
