Write the equation of the line passing through the given pair of points. (-9, 7) and (-9, -1)
aksik [14]
The first thing I should do with these two points is find the slope of the line.

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (-1 - 7)/(-9 - -9)
m = -8/0

The slope is undefined. We cannot divide by 0. This makes sense because the points (-9, 7) and (-9, -1) would be right on top of each other. This is a vertical line that has an x-intercept at -9.

Your equation would be x = -9.

A tank's length is 3 feet longer than its width. The height is 1 foot less than the width. The volume of the tank is 160 cubic f
Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

The width of the tank is 5 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A tank's length is 3 feet longer than its width.

The height is 1 foot less than the width.

The volume of the tank is 160 cubic feet.

Now, to find the width of the tank.

Let the width of the tank be x.

So, length is x+3.

And, height is x-1.

The volume of tank = 160 cubic feet.

Now, to get the width we put formula:

Volume = length × width × height.

160=(x+3)\times x\times (x-1)

160 =x(x^2-x+3x-3)

160=x(x^2+2x-3)

160=x^3+2x^2-3x

Subtracting both sides by 160 we get:

0=x^3+2x^2-3x-160

x^3+2x^2-3x-160=0

Now, on solving the equation we get:

x=5.

The width = 5 feet.

Therefore, the width of the tank is 5 feet.

a tree was 62 inches tall. Three years later, it was 101 inches tall. What was the percent increase, to the nearest hundredth, o
nignag [31]

Answer:

63% increase.

Step-by-step explanation:

You don't really need to do anything because it's probably a 63% increase as 101 is close to 100 already. If you'd like:

\frac{101-62}{62} *100=

\frac{39}{62} *100=

62.903225806451612903225806451613≈

63%
