Answer:

The probability that the first block will be green and the second will be yellow is  \frac{1}{9}  or 0.111.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a bag contains 5 yellow blocks, 2 green blocks and 3 blue blocks.

Also, we choose one block and then another block without putting the first one back in the bag.

<u>Firstly, as we know that Probability of any event is given by ;</u>

           Probability of an event  =  \frac{\text{Favorable number of outcomes}}{\text{Total number of outcomes}}

SO, <em>Probability that the first block will be green</em> =  \frac{\text{Number of green blocks}}{\text{Total blocks in the bag}}

Here, Number of green blocks = 2

Total number of blocks in bag = 5 yellow + 2 green + 3 blue = 10 blocks

So, Probability that the first block will be green  =  \frac{2}{10}

<em>Similarly, Probability that the second block will be yellow</em> =

                               \frac{\text{Number of yellow blocks}}{\text{Total number of remaining blocks in the bag}}

Here, Number of yellow blocks = 5

Total number of remaining blocks in bag = 10 - 1 = 9 blocks  {because we haven't put the block back after choosing the first}

So, Probability that the second block will be yellow  =  \frac{5}{9}

<u>Now, Probability that the first block will be green and the second will be yellow</u>  =  \frac{2}{10} \times \frac{5}{9}

            =  \frac{1}{9}  = 0.111

Hence, the required probability is 0.111.

The graph represents the normal distribution of recorded weights, in pounds, of cats at a veterinary clinic.
diamong [38]

Answer:

<em>B)</em><em> 8.9 lbs </em>

<em>C)</em><em> 9.5 lbs </em>

<em>D)</em><em> 9.8 lbs </em>

<em>E)</em><em> 10.4 lbs</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

From the graph, 9.5 is the mean of the sample and 0.5 is the standard deviation of the sample.

As we have to find the weights that lie within the 2 standard deviations of the mean i.e

=9.5\pm 2(0.5)

=8.5,10.5

Among the given weights only 8.9 lbs, 9.5 lbs, 9.8 lbs, 10.4 lbs will lie within 2 standard deviations of the mean.

Gas prices in shelby county are at $3.00 per gallon. if a market scientist predicts a 40% increase in the price of gas in the co
aleksley [76]

Answer-

<em>The price of gas will be</em><em> $4.2</em>

Solution-

Gas prices in shelby county = $3.00 per gallon

Market scientist predicts a 40% increase in the price of gas in the coming month.

So the new price will be,

=3+(3\times \dfrac{40}{100})

=3+(3\times 0.4)

=3+1.2

=4.2

Therefore, the price of gas will be $4.2

It's not a rational number because it's a continuous decimal. A rational number has an end.
