The idea that the laws govern geologic processes  have not changed during earth's history. Hutton stated that there was no need of any preternatural cause to explain geologic record.Sir Charles Lyell, however, deciphered earth's history by employing Huttonian  principles and made available a host of new geologic evidence supporting the view that the physical laws are permanent.
