The area of a playground is 12 square yards. The length of the playground is 3 times longer than its width. Find the length and
marishachu [46]

Answer:

Width is 2 and Length is 6

Step-by-step explanation:

  1. As the data is given, the area of a playground is 12 square yards.
  2. The length of the playground is 3 times longer than its width.
  3. Let width is x, length is 3 times therefore, length = 3x

As we know the formula for area,

  • Area=length x width.

So by putting values in this formula,

  • 12sq = (3x)(x)

=> 3x2 = 12

=> x2 = 12/3,

=> x2 = 4 ,

by taking square root we get x= 2,

  • the width is 2 and length is 3 times hence, length is 3(2) = 6.

You buy 1 1/4 yards of fabric and an $8 clothing pattern. Your total cost with a 6% sales tax added is $18.55. What is the cost
Paraphin [41]
First we can divide it by 106 then multiply it by 100 to get rid of the 6% sales tax, which now the cost of the stuff is $17.50.
Next, we subtract 8 from this to represent the clothing pattern cost. Now it is $9.50.
The last stap to this is to divide it by 1 1/4 to get the final cost per yard:
The fabric costs $7.60 per yard. Hope this helps!

Explain why the following answer is not correct: 1,000/5=2,000
Tatiana [17]
Well, 1000/5 would be smaller than 2000 not bigger. You are dividing into smaller pieces not multiplying into bigger ones.

What is the measure of the hypotenuse?
SVETLANKA909090 [29]

Answer:

To find the hypotenuse you need to use the Pythagorean Theorem which is

a^2+b^2=c^2

Where a and b are your two sides and c is your diagonal line

So you want to plug the numbers in for the right variables

5^2+12^2=c^2

We want to find what c equals so we are first gonna simplify

25+144=c^2

we take 5^2=25, and 12^2=144, then we add them together 25+144=169

169=c^2 now you want to take 169 and square root it because the opposite of squaring is taking it by the root square

The square root of 169=13

Your hypotenuse is 13

Hope this helps ;)
