a person's running stride is about 1.14 times the person's height. your friend's stride is 5.472 feet.

Lets S be the stride and H be the persons height

Running stride S = 1.14 times person's height

S = 1.14* H

Given that friends stride is 5.472 feet

Replace S with 5.472

5.472 = 1.14* H

Divide by 1.14 on both sides

\frac{5.472}{1.14} = \frac{1.14}{1.14} * H

H = 4.8 feet

Your friend is 4.8 feet tall

Answer:

<h2>Friend's height is 4.8 feet.</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

"A persons' running stride is about 1.14 times the person's height". This statement is expressed

s=1.14h

Where s represents person't stride and h represents person's height.

So, if a friend's stride is 5.472 ft, then his height is

s=1.14h\\5.472=1.14h\\h=\frac{5.472}{1.14}\\ h=4.8

Therefore, according to the given relation, friend's height is 4.8 feet.

Help with this math picture :) worth 8 points
ipn [44]

Solving for x...
\frac{1}{2} x+ \frac{1}{4} =  \frac{15}{16} &#10;

Times the \frac{1}{2} , both the numerator and denominator, by 8 to get the denominator to 16.
Times the \frac{1}{4} , both the numerator and denominator, by 4 to get the denominator to 16.

Then rewrite the problem,
\frac{8}{16}x+ \frac{4}{16} =  \frac{15}{16}

now that the denominators are all the same, you can solve...
subtract the \frac{4}{16} from both sides

you should get \frac{8}{16} x =  \frac{11}{16}

Multiply both sides by 16 (it'll cancel both the 16 out making it go away)
     8x = 11

divide each side by 8 to have the x alone

     <u>8x</u> = <u>11
</u>      8      8
<u>
</u> You should end with x = \frac{11}{8} or 1.375<u>

electric switches that regularly sell for $0.69 each are advertised this week at 5 for $2.75 . how much is saved by purchasing 5
grandymaker [24]

Answer:

So we will be saving a total of $0.7 at new rate

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Original price =$ 0.69

New price = $ 2.75 per 5 switches

To find:

Saving = ?

Solution:

The original per price of the switch is given as = $ 0.69

Discounted price of 5 switches at $2.75

5 Switch price at original price = Original price * No of switches

                                                       = 0.69 * 5

                                                       = $ 3.45

Total saving at buying 5 switches = 3.45 - 2.75

                                                           =$0.7

So we will be saving a total of $0.7 at new rate
