How did humanism influence the works of renaissance artists and authors
Gennadij [26K]
The main way in which humanism influenced the works of renaissance artists and authors was that it put the focus back on the human mind and body as opposed to only God. This is exemplified in many works of art that focus on the body itself, especially in the realm of sculpture.

what does the episode with the king of the bulgars suggest about Voltaire’s opinion on criminal justice
Igoryamba

Answer:

Voltaire also seems to support empathy and forgiveness towards criminals.

Explanation:

Voltaire's episode with the King of the Bulgarians suggests that he was a sympathetic and compassionate person. In this episode Voltaire explains how Candide was punished so severely without mercy.

However when the King saw Candide, he forgave him instantly and asked his physicians to treat with the best medicines. It portrays the King's sympathy towards wrong doers or accused criminals.

Similarly, Voltaire also seems to support empathy and forgiveness towards criminals. He does not encourage harsh punishments or biased judgement in the courts.
