The Iroquois Confederation was a union of native tribes in the Great Lakes area and New York State. During the time of the French possession of Quebec as the colony of New France, the Iroquois had constant confrontations with them for control of the Great Lakes. Due to this situation, a great situation of tension was generated between both groups, which was used by the British in their favor when recruiting them in the French and Indian War.
