The Governor refused to attack the Indian's that were attacking the settlement. Also he denied the Colonists to push any father west into Indian Land.

Bacon's Rebellion was an armed uprising in 1676. Virginia settlers directed by Nathaniel Bacon against Governor William Berkeley protested about Berkeley´s failure to protect the colonist´s safety.

Berkeley´s colony had a dismissive strategy regarding the western frontier, and Bacon had been left out of the governor´s inner circle. This meant Bacon wasn´t allowed into Berkeley´s fur trade with the Indians. Finally, the Doeg American Indian attacks served as the last motivation for a popular uprising against Berkeley.
