A certain brand of hot dog cooker works by applying a potential difference of 120 V across opposite ends of a hot dog and allowi

ng it to cook by means of the thermal energy produced. The current is 11.5 A, and the energy required to cook one hot dog is 59.0 kJ. If the rate at which energy is supplied is unchanged, how long will it take to cook three hot dogs simultaneously?

Answer: 43s

Explanation:

The stored energy across a plate can be measured by calculating the electric charge and the potential difference. Also, the quantity of electricity can be measured by multiplying the current in the circuit with the time taken.

Given

Potential difference, V = 120 v

Current, I = 11.5 A

Energy, E = 59 kJ

Remember,

E = QV, so that

Q = E/V

Q = 59000/120

Q = 491.67 C

Q = IT

491.67 = 11.5*t

t = 491.67/11.5

t = 42.75s ~ 43s

Time taken to cook the 3 hot dogs simultaneously is 43s

What is the % error in using g = 10.0 m/s^2? (Take the value ofg as 9.8 m/s^2)
Alenkasestr [34]

Answer:

So percentage error will be 2 %

Explanation:

We have given initial value of acceleration due to gravity g=10m/sec^2

And final value of acceleration due to gravity g=9.8m/sec^2

We have to find the percentage error

We know that percentage error is given by percentage\ error=\frac{initial\ value-final\ value}{initial\ value}\times 100

So percentage\ error=\frac{10-9.8}{10}\times 100=2 %

An engine absorbs 1.69 kJ from a hot reservoir at 277°C and expels 1.25 kJ to a cold reservoir at 27°C in each cycle.
Anna35 [415]

Answer

Given,

Energy absorbed, Q_H = 1.69\ kJ

Energy expels,Q_C =  1.25\ kJ

Temperature of cold reservoir, T = 27°C

a) Efficiency of engine

 \eta = \dfrac{Q_H - Q_C}{Q_H}\times 100

 \eta = \dfrac{1.69 - 1.25}{1.69}\times 100

\eta =26.03 %

b) Work done by the engine

 W = Q_H- Q_C

 W =1.69 - 1.25

 W = 0.44\ kJ

c) Power output

     t = 0.296 s

   P = \dfrac{W}{t}

   P = \dfrac{0.44}{0.296}

   P = 1.486\ kW

Which condition is required for Coulomb's law to hold true?
AleksAgata [21]
The correct answer is:
<span>Point charges must be in a vacuum.

In fact, the usual form for of the Coulomb's law is:
</span>F= \frac{1}{4 \pi \epsilon_0}  \frac{q_1 q_2}{r^2}
<span>where
</span>\epsilon_0 is the permittivity of free space
<span>q1 and q2 are the two charges
q is the separation between the two charges

However, this formula is valid only if the charges are in vacuum. If they are in a material medium, the law is modified as follows:
</span>F= \frac{1}{4 \pi \epsilon_0 \epsilon_r} \frac{q_1 q_2}{r^2}
where \epsilon_r is the relative permittivity, which takes into account the dielectric effects of the material.
