When one mass accelerates another mass the later mass is felt as weight or force.For example, if you push two objects under the same conditions with the same amount of force, the object with the lower mass will accelerate faster.

Hope this helps

Calculate the final speed (in m/s) of a 106 kg rugby player who is initially running at 7.75 m/s but collides head-on with a pad
vodomira [7]

Answer:

Final velocity will be -5.33 m/sec

Explanation:

We  have given mass of the rugby player m = 106 kg

Initial speed = 7.75 m/sec

Backward force F=1.85\times 10^4N

Time is given as t=7.5\times 10^{-2}sec

Impulse is given by impulse = force × time

So impulse =-1.85\times 10^4\times 7.5\times 10^{-2}=-1387.5N-s ( as force is backward )

We know that impulse is given by change in momentum

So m(v_f-v_i)=-1387.5

106\times (v_f-7.75)=-1387.5

v_f=-5.33m/sec

Two teams of nine members each engage in a tug of war. Each of the first team's members has an average mass of 64 kg and exerts
Serggg [28]

Answer:

a=0.13m/s^2

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

Mass of first team man m_1=64kg

Force of man first team man F_1=1350

Mass of second team man m_2=69kg

Force of man second team man F_2=1367N

Generally the equation for net force F_n is mathematically given by

F_n=9(m_1+m_2)a

9(m_1+m_2)a=9(f_2-f_1)

9(64+69)a=9(1367-1350)

a=\frac{9(1367-1350)}{9(64+69)}

a=0.127819m/s^2

Therefore the acceleration is given by

a=0.13m/s^2
