Answer: t=20-4g

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : James is playing his favorite game at the arcade.

After playing the game 3 times, he has 8 tokens remaining.

Initial number of tokens he had = 20

Also the game costs the same number of tokens each time.

Let x be the cost of each game .

Then according to the above information we have,

3x+8=20

3x=12  [Subtract 8 from both sides]

x= 4  [Divide 3 from both  sides]

i.e. the cost of each game = 4 tokens

Let g be the number of games he plays.

Then , the function of number t of tokens James has will be :

t= Initial tokens - (Tokens required for each game)(g)

t=20-4g

Amanda, Sarah and Bethany share the cost of a holiday in the ratio 5 : 4 : 3.
sp2606 [1]

Answer:

a. £564

b. £141

Step-by-step explanation:

a. Firstly, we add up the ratios

= 5 + 4 + 3 = 12

Amanda’s share was 5

Let the total amount be £x

Thus; 5/12 * x = 235

5x = 12 * 235

x = 2820/5 = 564

The total cost of the holiday is £564

b. We want to calculate what Bethany paid

That would be 3/12 * 564 = £141
