Use the table and the data provided to analyze the following data. During gym class, the pulse rate was recorded for 19 students

before and after an exercise warm-up. The pulse rates are listed below. Pulse before Exercise Pulse after Exercise 67 87 67 88 67 89 68 89 71 91 72 93 72 93 75 95 77 96 77 97 79 98 81 98 85 101 87 105 87 105 91 119 97 125 103 125 121 147 Part A: Create a stemplot for each set of data. Justify your reasoning for split or nonsplit stems. (10 points) Part B: Compare and contrast the two data sets. Justify your answer using key features of the data (shape, outliers, center, and spread). (10 points) just a little confused on how to set it up

Answer:

Part A

Please see attached the required stem and leaf plot

For the stem and leaf plot, the nonsplit system is used because of clarity for analysis

Part B:

From the shape of the stem and leaf plot we have that there is an average increase of pulse rate of 20 pulses in all the 19 students after the exercise

The shape of the plot is relatively the same for the before and after exercise save for the decrease in the third to the last row by one and the increase in the second to the last roe by one student

The spread remained relatively constant in both cases with the most being in the 60s range having 7 students in the before exercise and the 80s range having 8 students in the after exercise leaf plot.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given data are;

67{}                                    87

67{}                                    88

67 {}                                   89

Meaghan goes to the grocery store to buy hot dogs and hamburgers for a cookout. She buys a total of 12
Archy [21]

The system of equations is d+b=12 and 2.59d+5.49b=36.88 and Meaghan bought 10 packages of hot dogs and 2 packages of hamburgers.

Step-by-step explanation:

Cost of one package of hot dog = $2.59

Cost of one package of hamburgers = $5.49

Packages bought = 12

Cost of packages = $36.88

Let,

Packages of hot dogs = d

Packages of hamburger = b

According to given statement;

d+b=12     Eqn 1

2.59d+5.49b=36.88   Eqn 2

Multiplying Eqn 1 by 2.59

2.59(d+b=12)\\2.59d+2.59b=31.08\ \ \ Eqn\ 3

Subtracting Eqn 3 from Eqn 2

(2.59d+5.49b)-(2.59d+2.59b)=36.88-31.08\\2.59d+5.49b-2.59d-2.59b=5.80\\2.90b=5.80

Dividing both sides by 2.90

\frac{2.90b}{2.90}=\frac{5.80}{2.90}\\b=2

Putting b=2 in Eqn 1

d+2=12\\d=12-2\\d=10

The system of equations is d+b=12 and 2.59d+5.49b=36.88 and Meaghan bought 10 packages of hot dogs and 2 packages of hamburgers.

Dylan and Beatrice are working with the same function. Dylan input −8 into the function and got an output of 8.
kolbaska11 [484]

Answer:

Part A: If Beatrice inputs −8 into the function, she must get an output of 8.

Part B: (−4,8) , (4,−8) , (8,−4)

Step-by-step explanation:

Part A:

We know that a function is a relation that maps elements from one set (The domain, the set of the inputs) into elements from another set (the range, the set of the outputs)

Such that each input can be mapped into only one output.

Then if we know that our function maps the input -8 into the output 8.

Always that we use this function with the input -8. we will have the same output, 8.

Then we can conclude that the correct option to the first part is:

"If Beatrice inputs −8 into the function, she must get an output of 8. "

Part B:

Remember, -8 is mapped into 8, then the point (−8,4) (this says "-8 is mapped into 4) can never be on the graph of the function.

But the points:

(−4,8) , (4,−8) , (8,−4)

Could be on the graph of the function.
