Locate the topic sentence. Tell which paragraph shape and pattern type this paragraph is. 1The art of letter writing seems to ha

ve declined sharply in recent years. 2Perhaps the rising cost of stationery and postage is a factor. 3Most people today are so busy with their jobs, their families, and their hobbies that they do not feel they have time to write letters. 4To a certain extent, television and personal computers have replaced communicating with friends as a form of entertainment. 5The advent of the telephone and the use of e-mail, however, are probably the most significant factor in the decrease of letter writing, because they give instant access to friends and loved ones.

In most cases the topic sentence is going to be the first sentence in your body paragraph. (The first sentence AFTER your introduction paragraph). If it's only one paragraph without an introduction it would then be the first sentence of your paragraph!

The Great Compromise allowed for?
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

B. two legislatures, one with an equal number of votes for every state, and one determined by proportional representation

Explanation:

The Great Compromise, also known as the Connecticut Compromise was a decision reached between small and large states during the Constitutional Convention of 1787, where it as agreed that a bicameral legislature would be adopted. This meant that the upper house would have an equal number of votes per state and the lower house would proportionately represented based on the individual state population.

Therefore, the Great Compromise allowed for two legislatures, one with an equal number of votes for every state, and one determined by proportional representation.

Select the correct text in the passage. In which sentence does the author most clearly define his argument? adapted from The Goa
Jobisdone [24]

The author clearly defines his argument in the sentence "In a very real sense, it will not be one man going to the moon—if we make this judgment affirmatively, it will be an entire nation."

What is an argument?

The author's argument refers to the statement or point or opinion or belief of the author on which he is trying to persuade the reader to believe. The author's argument can be identified in his writing by focussing on the points that are highlighted by him.

In the given passage, John F. Kennedy is trying to involve the whole nation in the victory. Therefore his argument can be best described by the sentence "In a very real....".

Therefore the correct option is C.

bagirrra123 [75]
32. Romeo says when he sees Juliet is “Oh, she does teach the torches to burn bright” It seems she hangs upon cheek of night like a fine jewel in an Ethiope’s ear. Beauty too rich for use of earth, too dear. So shows the snowy dove trooping with crows, as yonder lady o’er her fellows show. I never saw true beauty till this night.
