You multiply 9 and 3 to get 27. you divide 27 and 9 to get 3. or you divide 27 and 3 to get 9. the comparison would be the difference in dividing to get a smaller number(quotient) and multiplying to get a bigger number(product)

Are the two expressions -2 +3x and 3x + (-2) equivalent?
atroni [7]

Yes. Let's look at PEMDAS. Parentheses, Exponents, <em>Multiplication</em>, <em>Addition</em>, Subtraction. As we can see, multiplication comes first. In -2 + 3x, reading it from left to right, we see the addition symbol first, but because we're supposed to do multiplication, we have to do the 3x first. The same goes for 3x + (-2).

Yes. The two expressions -2 + 3x and 3x + (-2) are equivalent.

Hope this explanation helped you out. :)

A bridge over a river has the shape of a circular arc. The span of the bridge is 24 meters. (The span is the length of the chord
kompoz [17]

Answer:

20 meters

Step-by-step explanation:

Seeing the image attached, we can observe that there is a triangle formed by half of the chord of the arc, the radius (hypotenusa) and part of the radius (r-4). Using pythagoras theorem in this triangle, we have:

(r-4)^2 + 12^2 = r^2

r^2 - 8r + 16 + 144 = r^2

8r = 160

r = 20

So the radius of the circle that contains this arc is 20 meters.
