Answer: South American plate and African plate

Explanation: Tristan de cunha is a volcano that has formed approximately 150 million years back when the plates namely, the African plate and the South American plate moved in the opposite direction. Due to this diverging plate motion, the Atlantic ocean was formed.

Tristan de cunha is a stratovolcano, having a total height of about 6000 m, of which, about 4000 m lies below the sea level and 2000 m lies above the sea level. It is located at about 500 km towards east of the Mid-Atlantic ridge. The volcano is surrounded by the lava flows and pyroclastic rocks that must have erupted from the volcano in the past.

Which of the following conditions will produce the largest waves? a. strong, long duration winds in a large fetch weak, b. short
Alisiya [41]

Answer:

strong, long duration winds in a large fetch weak

Explanation:

A fetch is an area of the ocean or sea where wind blows in a fixed direction, this consistent wind leads to waves.

Fetch length is the distance reached by the wave generating winds when measured in from a horizontal direction. The wind creates wave by forming a drag and a frictional drag, the wind the flow over the wave making it grow. Therefore, a strong, long duration winds in a moderate fetch or weak fetch will produce largest waves.

How does River erosion affect landscapes in the mountain
ki77a [65]

Answer:

Explanation:

Rivers have three sections or courses: the upper course, middle course and lower course. The upper course of a river typically sees much erosion of bedrock in order to achieve the equilibrium mentioned above.

The upper course is also at the highest altitude as this is where the headwaters of the river originate. Rivers in the upper course erode down vertically which often creates a steep channel profile in what becomes the river valley.

The middle course sees a river at a slightly lower altitude than the upper course, but is still maintains a sense of trying to acquire equilibrium in flow and shape. The discharge and velocity of the river still allows the water to erode the banks and chart a course of least resistance through lateral erosion.

The lower course is unique as this is the stage in which a river has reached sea level. Here we find features not found in the middle and upper courses like floodplains and river deltas that have been formed by the sediment deposits of rocks and dirt gathered from upstream.
