Answer:

x= 15

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for x:

x/3 - 5 + 171 = 171

Put each term in x/3 - 5 + 171 over the common denominator 3: x/3 - 5 + 171 = x/3 - 15/3 + 513/3:

x/3 - 15/3 + 513/3 = 171

x/3 - 15/3 + 513/3 = (x - 15 + 513)/3:

(x - 15 + 513)/3 = 171

Add like terms. 513 - 15 = 498:

(x + 498)/3 = 171

Multiply both sides of (x + 498)/3 = 171 by 3:

(3 (x + 498))/3 = 3×171

(3 (x + 498))/3 = 3/3×(x + 498) = x + 498:

x + 498 = 3×171

3×171 = 513:

x + 498 = 513

Subtract 498 from both sides:

x + (498 - 498) = 513 - 498

498 - 498 = 0:

x = 513 - 498

513 - 498 = 15:

Answer: x = 15

Help anyone pls? don’t quite understand
FrozenT [24]
I’m not sure but this is what I would do

Runner A (unit rate / constant of proportionality):
54 feet divided by 4.5 seconds = 12 feet per second

Runner B (unit rate / constant of proportionality): 300 feet divided by 20 seconds (It looks like the end point of the line lands between 300 feet and 20 seconds) = 15 feet per second

Unit Rate:
Runner A = 12 feet per second
Runner B = 15 feet per second

Faster Runner:
Runner B is the faster runner as he can run a further distance than Runner A in one second.

C) If f(3x + 4)=5x + 8, find f '(x) and f(3)
PIT_PIT [208]

Answer:

f(3x + 4) = 5x + 8

⇔ f(3x + 4) = \frac{5}{3}(3x+\frac{24}{5})

⇔ f(3x + 4) = \frac{5}{3}(3x+4+\frac{4}{5})

⇒ f'(x) = \frac{5}{3}(x+\frac{4}{5})

=> f(3) = \frac{5}{3}(3+\frac{4}{5})= \frac{19}{3}

If f(X)= x-1 /3<br> and g(x) = 3x+1, what is(f•g)(x)?
mars1129 [50]

Answer:

  (f•g)(x) = 3x^2 -1/3

Step-by-step explanation:

The solid dot in (f•g)(x) is assumed to mean you want the product of the functions, not their composition. So, ...

  (f•g)(x) = f(x)•g(x) = (x -1/3)(3x +1) = x(3x +1) -1/3(3x +1) = 3x^2 +x -x -1/3

  (f•g)(x) = 3x^2 -1/3
