Let
x------> the length of a room
y-----> the width of a room

we know that
Area of a room=x*y
Area of a room=432 ft²
so
432=x*y-----> equation 1

x=3y-----> equation 2

substitute equation 2 in equation 1
432=[3y]*y----->432=3y²
y²=432/3
y²=144----------> y=√144-----------> y=12 ft
x=3y-----> x=3*12-----> x=36 ft

the answer is
the width of the room is 12 ft

Solve the rational equation. If an equation has no solution, so state.
x+6/x=-7
kupik [55]

Answer:

x=−1 or x=−6

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply all terms by x and cancel:

xx+6=−7x

x2+6=−7x(Simplify both sides of the equation)

x2+6−−7x=−7x−−7x(Subtract -7x from both sides)

x2+7x+6=0

(x+1)(x+6)=0(Factor left side of equation)

x+1=0 or x+6=0(Set factors equal to 0)

x=−1 or x=−6

Check answers. (Plug them in to make sure they work.)

x=−1(Works in original equation)

x=−6(Works in original equation)

3. P (Figure Left)=3+5+2+1+4+8+3+2=28 cm

A (Figure Left)=8x2-2x1-3x2=8 cm2

4. P (Figure Left) / P (Figure Right) = 1/1.75 = 28/ P (Figure Right)

P (Figure Right)= 49 cm

A (Figure Left) / A (Figure Right) = 1/1.752 = 8/ A (Figure Right)

A(Figure Right)= 24.5 cm2

Step-by-step explanation:

1. x/2=1.75/3.5  x=1

2. 4/2=y/3.5 y=3.5

3. P (Figure Left)=3+5+2+1+4+8+3+2=28 cm

What is the slope of the line that passes through (-4, 6) and (-6, 20)?
Hatshy [7]

Answer:

-7

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have two points, we can use the slope formula

m = ( y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

    = ( 20-6)/(-6- -4)

    = ( 20-6)/ ( -6+4)

    = 14/-2

    = -7
