Given:
x = candy selling at 6 per pound
y = candy selling at 9 per pound

x + y = 15

6x + 9y = 15(7)
6x + 9y = 105

x = 15 - y

6(15-y) + 9y = 105
90 - 6y + 9y = 105
3y = 105 - 90
3y = 15
3y/3 = 15/3
y = 5

There should be 5 pounds of more expensive candy.

x = 15 - y
x = 15 - 5
x =10

There should be 10 pounds of less expensive candy.

A pyramid has a square base with side s. The height of the pyramid is 2/3 that of its side. What is the expression for the volum
Alona [7]
<span>I think the height is 2/3 that of a side of the base. If that is correct, then the height is h = 2/3s.

The formula for the volume of a pyramid is \[V=\frac{ 1 }{ 3 }s ^{2}h\]

Normally it would be B for base area, but since this is a square and the height is in terms of s, that would be the formula.

If we find the area based on the fact that h = 2/3s, then it appears that the formula would be

V=1/3s^2 x 2/3s

If you multiply that all out, it would be V= 2 / 9s ^3

In a study of parents' perceptions of their children's size, researchers asked parents to estimate their youngest child's height
maks197457 [2]

Answer:

B) TS = -6.51, p-value = 0.0000

Step-by-step explanation:

Sample size, n = 39

μ = 7.5 cm

Null hypothesis, H₀ = 7.5 cm

(I.e. Average height of youngest child is 7.5 cm)

Alternative hypothesis, H_{a}\neq 7.5 (The youngest child's age is underestimated by 7.5 cm)

Standard deviation, \sigma = 7.2 cm

In order to be able to reject the null hypothesis,

the formula for the test statistic:

t = \frac{- \mu}{s/\sqrt{n} }

t = \frac{- 7.5}{7.2/\sqrt{39} }

t = -6.51

P - value

P(x < 7.5) = P(z < -6.51)

Checking the p-value for z < -6.51 in the normal distribution table

P(z < -6.51) = 0.0000

p - value = 0.0000
