Solve the system of linear equations by graphing. y = –5/2x – 7 x + 2y = 4 What is the solution to the system of linear equation
muminat

ANSWER

(–4.5, 4.25)

EXPLANATION

The first equation is

y =  -  \frac{5}{2}x - 7

This function is in the slope-intercept form

The second equation is:

x + 2y = 4

2y =-x+ 4

y =  -  \frac{1}{2}x + 2

The graph of the two functions are shown in the attachment.

The point of intersection represents the solution to the system of equations they represent.

The solution is

(–4.5, 4.25)

Which shows one way to determine the factors of x^3-12x^2-2x+24 by grouping
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

(x - 12)(x² - 2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

x³ - 12x² - 2x + 24 ( factor the first/second and third/fourth terms )

= x²(x - 12) - 2(x - 12) ← factor out (x - 12) from each term

= (x - 12)(x² - 2)

What is the equation for each parabola in y=a(x-r)(x-s) form?

Please explain it step by step
ozzi
1. first parabola is up, so a are going to be positive
y = a(x-r)(x-s),
roots -7,-3, so we can write y=a(x+7)(x+3) [1]
we can take point (-5,-2), substitute into equation [1], and find value of a
-2=a(-5+7)(-5+3)
-2=a*2*(-2)
a=1/2
so first parabola has an equation
y=1/2(x+7)(x+3)

2. second parabola
y=a(x-r)(x-s) roots are 2 and 4 so we ca write
y=a(x-2)(x-4) take point (3,4) and substitute into this equation
4 =a(3-2)(3-4)
4=-a
a=-4, and it will look down
y=-4(x-2)(x-4)
