Complete Question:

Which statement best explains how the Constitution addressed a weakness in the Articles of Confederation?

A) Some states were punishing citizens for publishing texts critical of the government, so the Constitution protected the right to freedom of speech.

B) Congress couldn’t pass laws because state representatives did not always attend congressional sessions, so the Constitution made it a crime for legislators to skip sessions of Congress.

C) Congress had no way to enforce or interpret the laws it passed, so the Constitution created the executive and judicial branches of the federal government.

D) Some states wanted to create alliances with Great Britain against other states, so the Constitution made it illegal for states to make alliances with foreign countries.

Answer:

"Congress had no way to enforce or interpret the laws it passed, so the Constitution created the executive and judicial branches of the federal government" statement best explains how the Constitution addressed a weakness in the Articles of Confederation.

Explanation:

The first constitution of the United States was the Article of Confederations, which lasted from the period 1776 to 1789. The Articles was a bundle of mistakes and drove weak central government by loading most of the powers in the states' control.

The United States, to ensure separation of powers there are three branches of federal government: executive, legislative and judicial. To ensure effective government and the rights of citizens are secured, each division has its own powers and responsibilities when collaborating with the other branches.

I stumbled across the DVD of A Passage to India while browsing through the selection at the University of Melbourne library back in 2010.
Before then, I didn't know anything about the book (other than being vaguely familiar with the title in a way we're vaguely familiar with a lot of classic titles.) I turned the DVD over and read the description on the back, and learned that the story was about the trial of an Indian man accused of sexually assaulting a white woman in the racially charged atmosphere of British Colonial India.

I borrowed it from the library, and was tremendously disappointed by it.
