Well metric unit is for measurement and place value units is for numbers

They are alike because one kilometer is one thousand times more than one meter like one thousand is one thousand times more than one one.
1 kilometer= 1,000 x 1 meter                      1 thousand=1,000 x 1 one
  1 Liter= 1,000 x 1 milliliter                         1 ten thousand=1,000x 1 ten
1 Kilogram=1,000 x 1 gram              1 hundred thousand=1,000 x 1 hundred
They are different because metric units are for measurement/volume/mass and place value units are for counting/numbers.

Which of the following points could be the initial point of vector v if it has a magnitude of 10 an the terminal point (-1,5)?
Eddi Din [679]
Let the initial point of the vector be (x,y). Then the magnitude of the vector v can be written as:

|v|= \sqrt{ (-1-x)^{2} + (5-y)^{2} }

The magnitude of vecor v is given to be 10. So we can write:

10= \sqrt{ (-1-x)^{2} + (5-y)^{2} } \\ \\ 100=(-1-x)^{2} + (5-y)^{2}

Now from the given options, we have to check which one satisfies the above equation. That point will be the initial point of the vector.

The point in option d, satisfies the equation.

100=(-1+7)^{2} +(5+3)^{2}  \\  \\
100=36+64 \\  \\
100=100

Thus, the answer to this question is option D

Please help exponents and scientific notation
Anna007 [38]
Alright! When you have a constant to a power times another constant to a power (ex. [x^3 times x^3] ) you simply add the powers and keep the base [x^6]. When you have a power to a power (ex. [(12^3)^3] ) you multiply the powers and keep the base [12^9]. When you have a constant to a power divided by a constant to a power (ex. [ x^2 divided by x^5] ) you subtract the powers and keep the base. It's hard to see the questions, so I'll leave this here for you to use as a guide.

What is the midpoint and distance between points P(3,5) and Q(7,5)
storchak [24]

The formula of a midpoint:

M\left(\dfrac{x_1+x_2}{2};\ \dfrac{y_1+y_2}{2}\right)

The formula of a distance between two points:

d=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

We have the points P(3, 5) and Q(7, 5). Substitute:

x=\dfrac{3+7}{2}=\dfrac{10}{2}=5\\\\y=\dfrac{5+5}{2}=\dfrac{10}{2}=5

<h3>M(5, 5)</h3>

d=\sqrt{(5-5)^2+(7-3)^2}=\sqrt{0^2+4^2}=\sqrt{4^2}=4

<h3>Answer:</h3><h3>Midpoint = (5, 5)</h3><h3>Distance = 4</h3>
