Answer:

5B^{2}  - 12B +10B - 24 = 0\\\\\   Base of triangle = 2.4 Feet and Height of triangle = 10 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem can be solved by using formula to calculate area of triangle.

<u>Area of triangle = 1/2*(base*height)</u>

given

Let base of triangle B

height if triangle H

according to problem

The height of a triangle is 2 less than 5 times its base

mathematically it can be expressed as

H = 5*B - 2

Given area of triangle= 12 sq feet

Area of triangle = 1/2*(base*height)

=> 12 = 1/2* {B*(5*B-2)}

=> 24 = 5B^2 - 2B

5B^{2}  - 12B +10B - 24 = 0\\\\\   which is a  quadratic equation

It can be solved as given below

5B^{2}  +10B - 12B  - 24 = 0\\\\\=>5B(B +2) -12(B +2) = 0\\=> (5B - 12) (B +2) = 0\\5B - 12 = 0      or B + 2 = 0\\Hence B = 12/5 \  or  \ B = -2\\\\

Since for side of triangle B cannot be negative number hence B= 12/5 = 2.4

Therefore height of triangle = 5*B - 2 = 5*2.4 - 2 = 12 - 2 = 10

Base of triangle = 2.4 Feet and Height of triangle = 10 feet.

Equation which models this situation is

5B^{2}  - 12B +10B - 24 = 0\\\\\

What is the value of x?<br><br> Enter your answer, as a decimal, in the box.<br><br> ? cm
Dima020 [189]

Answer:

The value is 50.6cm

Step-by-step explanation:

In order to find this , set up a proportion. Use the smaller part of the triangle on top, and the corresponding part of the larger on bottom.

32.2/46.2 = x/72.6

Now cross multiply to solve

72.6*32.2 = 46.2*x

2337.72 = 46.2x

50.6 = x

Distributive property of (9×3)+(9×8)
Elodia [21]
We can see that both expressions, 9 times 3 and 9 times 8, have a common number of 9. We can take that number out, and we can combine 3 and 8 together. This gives us the expression 9(3 + 8). Therefore, the expression <span>(9×3)+(9×8) expressed as the distributive property is 9(3 +8), both totaling to 99. Hope this helped and have a fabulous day!</span>

_______square feet? I need the square feet to
Daniel [21]

Answer:

60 ft²

Step-by-step explanation:

The reason being that you take the height of 8 and multiply it by the width of 15. 8×15=120 Then since a triangle is half of a square you would halve it. 120÷2=60 Which would then give you your answer.

The price, P, of a certain stock is given by the formula P = -6t + 50 when t is the number of years since 2000. Find the price o
oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer:

year 2000: P = 50

year 2004: P = 24

Step-by-step explanation:

t is the number of years since 2000, so for the year 2000, we have that t = 0.

Using this value in the equation, we find that:

P = -6 * 0 + 50 = 50

The price of the stock in year 2000 is 50.

For the year 2004, we have that t = 4, so using this value in the equation for P, we have:

P = -6 * 4 + 50 = -24 + 50 = 26

The price of the stock in year 2004 is 24.
