He was very philosophical and wrote a series of books called "Meditations".

Marcus Aurelius was a Roman emperor as well as Stoic philosopher. Marcus Aurellius was the last of the leaders commonly known as the Five Good Emperors, and the last emperor of the Pax Romana. Furthermore, he served as consul in 140, 145, and 161.

He turnt into emperor after Antoninus' death. His reign was marked by military conflict.
