Let the chair be x, and table be y

5 chairs and 6 tables = $53,       5x + 6y = 53

3 chairs and 2 tables = $21,        3x + 2y = 21

5x + 6y = 53..........(i)

3x + 2y = 21..........(ii)    x3

3*(3x + 2y) = 3*21

9x + 6y = 63.............(iii)

5x + 6y = 53..........(i)
-
9x + 6y = 63.............(iii)
________________
-4x  + 0y = -10

-4x = -10

x = -10/-4

x = 2.5

Substitute x = 2.5, into 5x + 6y =53

5*2.5 + 6y = 53

12.5 + 6y = 53

6y = 53 - 12.5

6y = 40.5

y = 40.5/6

y = 6.75

x = 2.5, y = 6.75

So the cost of renting chair is $2.50 and cost for table is $6.75

Hope this clarifies it.

aliya0001 [1]

The approximate lateral area of the circular cone with has the base diameter 18 in and height 40 in long is 1,159 square inches

<h3>What is the lateral area of cone?</h3>

Lateral area of the cone is the area bounded by the surface of the cone, and this Lateral area of the cone can be found out using the following formula.

A=\pi r\sqrt{h^2+r^2}

here. (<em>h</em>) is the height of the cone and (<em>r</em>) is the radius of the cone.

A cone has a circular base with a diameter of 18 inches. The height of the cone is 40 inches.

Put these values in the above formula as,

A=(3.14) (9)\sqrt{40^2+9^2}\\A\approx1159\rm \; in^2

Hence, the approximate lateral area of the circular cone with has the base diameter 18 in and height 40 in long is 1,159 square inches

Simplify the polynomials by combining like terms 3x 5x 4x
lukranit [14]
Hello! Combining like terms is just a fancy way of saying add all these numbers together. As long as numbers have the same variable (in this case x) and the same exponent (they don't have any in this case), you can add them together like normal. So! 3x + 5x +4x is the same as 3+5+4. Your simplified polynomial is 12x. Good luck with the math homework!
