Equation:

2x - 3y = 3 

(add 3y to both sides)

2x - 3y + 3y = 3 + 3y = 2x = 3 + 3y 

(divide by 2 on both sides to isolate x) 

2x / 2 = (3 + 3y) / 2 

x = (3 + 3y) / 2 

x = 3/2y + 3/2 

then, for y, plug in equation for x value to original: 

2x - 3y = 3 -------> 2(3/2y + 3/2) - 3y = 3 

solve for y: 

(distribute the 2 outside of parenthesis)

2(3/2y + 3/2) - 3y = 3  

(reduce/simplify fractions) 

6/2y + 6/2 - 3y = 3 

3y + 3 - 3y = 3 

0 + 3 = 3 

3 = 3 

so y = 0 

place value for y into x equation to figure x value. 

x = 3/2y + 3/2 

x = 3/2(0) + 3/2 

x= 0 + 3/2
