6x-12 = 2x-6

get like terms on the same side by adding/subtracting.

6x - 12 = 2x - 6
+ 12, -2x on both sides

6x - 2x = -6 + 12

4x = 6

divide all by 4

x = 1.5

to check your answer, plug in 1.5 for x and see if they are equal to one another.

6(1.5) - 12 = -3
2(1.5) - 6 = -3

\bf \qquad \textit{Simple Interest Earned}\\\\
I = Prt\qquad
\begin{cases}
I=\textit{interest earned}\\
P=\textit{original amount deposited}\to& \$690.65\\
r=rate\to 7.3\%\to \frac{7.3}{100}\to &0.073\\
t=years\to &\frac{15+31+30+6}{365}
\end{cases}

the penalty he'll incurred into, since July 6 is after the deadline of April 15, is I = Prt

now "t" is in years, how many days after April 15 to July 6? well, 15 + 31 + 30 +6, to convert to years, divide by 365

Two events, A and B, are independent of each other. P(A) = 1/6 and P(A and B) = 1/8 What is P(B) written as a decimal? Round to
Leona [35]
P(B) = 0.75.

For independent events, P(A and B) = P(A)*P(B).  This gives us

1/8 = 1/6(x)

Divide both sides by 1/6:
1/8 ÷ 1/6 = x
1/8 × 6/1 = x
6/8 = x
3/4 = x
0.75 = x

Of the dogs at the dog show,
Olin [163]
So, let's say that all the dogs had a number of x.

then 1/12 x were the Hound Group dogs.

then, out of the Hound Group,, that is 1/12 x, 3/10 were English Foxhounds.

For this, we need to multiply the fractions:

\frac{1}{12}x* \frac{3}{10} = \frac{3}{120}x =\frac{1}{40}x

so of all the dogs at the show, the English Foxhunds were a 1/40 fraction,
