In a lab, you perform a double slit experiment to measure the wavelength of a particular laser. When aimed at two slits spaced b

y 0.22 mm0.22mm an interference pattern is formed on a screen 0.5 m away. You measure that 10 bright lines of the interference pattern cover a total of 1.3 cm1.3cm width on the screen. What is the wavelength of the laser light?

Answer:

The wavelength of the laser light is 572 nm.

Explanation:

Given that,

Distance between slit d= 0.22 mm

Distance of screen D= 0.5 m

Bright lines = 10

Width y= 1.3 cm

We need to calculate the wavelength

Using formula of young

y=\dfrac{n\lambda D}{d}

\lambda=\dfrac{dy}{nD}

Put the value into the formula

\lambda=\dfrac{0.22\times10^{-3}\times1.3\times10^{-2}}{10\times0.5}

\lambda=5.72\times10^{-7}\ m

\lambda=572\times10^{-9}\ m

Hence, The wavelength of the laser light is 572 nm.

Why cant your rocket could never reach the speed of light?
Oksanka [162]

Answer:

The length of the object would shrink to zero which is not possible.

Explanation:

A rocket or any body cannot reach the speed of light because according to theory of relativity the and the Lorentz factor the length of the object would shrink to zero and the time dilation for that body would be infinite.

The Lorentz factor is given as:

\gamma=\frac{1}{\sqrt{\frac{v^2}{c^2} } }

where:

v = speed of the moving object

c = speed of light

The number of gallons of water in a storage tank at time t, in minutes, is modeled by w(t) = 25 − t2 for 0≤t≤5. At what rate, in
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

Rate of change of water will be -6 gallon/minute

Explanation:

We have given water in the tank as the function of time as

w(t)=25-t^2

We have to find the rate of change of water in the tank at t = 3 minute

For rate of change we have to differentiate both side

So \frac{dw}{dt}=0-2t

At t = 3 minute

\frac{dw}{dt}=0-2\times 3=-6gallon/minute
