1. A) continental

The southern portions of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba are part of the vast prairie region. This region stretches through the central part of the United States, as well as the southern portion of central Canada. The prairie region in Canada has continental climate. It is a region which is mostly influenced by continental air masses. In the summer it is warm and dry continental air masses that come from the south, while in winter it is cold air masses that come from the north.

2. D) oil and natural gas

The oil and natural gas are two of the most valuable and demanded natural resources int he world. In the North American continent, these two resources can be found on the two opposite sides of it, on the far north and on the far south. The reserves of oil and natural gas in the north are in the Arctic, while the ones in the south are in the Gulf of Mexico, making this two parts of the continent extremely important for the economic development of the whole region.

3. A) The Queen of England

In practice, Canada is a parliamentary democracy, but constitutionally it is actually a constitutional monarchy. The ''head of state'' is in fact the Queen of England, Elizabeth II. The Queen of England though has this ''power'' only as symbolic one, being remnant of the history of this country. In practice, the Queen of England has no real power in Canada whatsoever, as it is the case in her homeland, the United Kingdom.
