Meristematic tissues are actively dividing tissues of the plant.
They help in primary(elongation) and secondary(thickness) growth of the plant.
Since their functions do not involve storage of unused glucose synthesized by the plant, they rarely contain vacuoles.
The main use of vacuoles in plants is for storage purposes.
