All the cells arise from cell division.Meiosis is a special form of cell division that produces reproductive cells .This process involves a "parent" cell splitting into two or more Cells whereas "Mitosis", a process of cell reproduction, during which one cell gives rise to two identical daughter cells, the term mitosis is used to describe the duplication and distribution of chromosomes, the structures that carries the genetic information.

In mitosis, cell division occurs, obtaining 2 daughter cells with the same genetic material in each of the cells that originated them. (same number of chromosomes as the stem cell)
