DNA isolated from water samples collected in six different sites was prepared and analyzed by gel electrophoresis for the presen

ce of carp. The resulting gel is shown. Lanes 1 through 6 contain the DNA from each site. Lanes 7 and 8 represent the negative and positive controls.
Based on the banding patterns, how many sites tested positive for carp?

If lane 7 represent the negative control and 8 shows the positive controls (as we may infer by reading that lanes 7 and 8 represent negative and positive controls RESPECTIVELY) then we can say that lanes 1,3,5,6 and 8 tested positive for carp.

Gel electrophoresis can be defined as the process of separation of the macro-molecules  and the fragments based on their charge and size. In the gel electrophoresis given, the lane 7 indicates the negative control, and the lane 8 indicates the positive control. The bands formed in the lanes 1,3,5, and 6 corresponds to the ban in the lane 8, which is a positive control. Hence, based on these observations, it can be said that a total of 4 sites tested positive for carp.

What are the punnet squares really used for and do they work
podryga [215]
Punnett squares are used to find out the possible genotypes of the next generation after a cross and thus find the phenotype too according to the predicted genotypes.

For example, parents with genotypes of Rr and rr cross together, we can use the punnett square to list out the possible genotypes of their children which are Rr and rr.

You can never predict the exact genotypes of the next child but you can find out the possibility if they carry a certain trait. All the genotypes of the child are in random but you at least know what phenotypes they'll have.

Checkpoints are points between phases of the cell cycle at which a cell determines whether all the requirements necessary for ea
Sedaia [141]

Answer:

The correct answer is - at the G1/S phase and G2/M phase.

Explanation:

The G1/S transition phase or checkpoint is a phase where the cell cycle arrested if during the evaluation of the DNA found damaged or other factors including external factors. Due to this evaluation and inadequate conditions, the cell will not enter the S phase.

The G2/M phase or transition phase is a checkpoint which takes place just before the M phase that ensures that all replicated DNA is not damaged before entering mitosis phase or M phase.

Thus, the correct answer is - at the G1/S phase and G2/M phase.

fiasKO [112]
The answer to this question would be: Olive oil

In Mediterranean diet, you need to exchange the butter (since it contains unhealthy fat) with olive oil or canola oil. Saturated fat is also unhealthy so you need to exchange it. Lean meat is good but the consumption must be limited.
