Antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections. Antibiotics can work by either killing bacterial cells or by preventing the

spread of bacteria. Antibiotics can kill bacteria by inhibiting bacterial cells from completely forming a cell wall. Antibiotics that keep bacteria from spreading can do so by preventing them from performing binary fission. Using the information from the table, select TWO reasons why these types of antibiotics would not work to treat viruses.
A. Viruses are smaller than bacteria.

B. Viruses do not have DNA like bacteria do.

C. Viruses reproduce differently than bacteria.

How does treatment for a bacterial infection differ from treatment for a virus?
kari74 [83]
The answer is: you can treat bacterial infections, not viruses with antibiotics.

The use of antibiotics in viral infections is not effective and many organizations recommend the use of antibiotics only when there is a documented bacterial infection. The treatment of viral infections has been difficult for they are tiny and  replicate inside the cell.
