For Aztecs it was easiest to have an agriculture based economy as they were based in a rich river valley and basin.

Explanation:

The Inca empire and civilization was located in the high mountains which are now the site of the famous Machu Pichu ruins left behind by them in the place they settled.

The Maya also were society that was primarily found inland.

It was the Aztecs who had mastered a form of sophisticated architecture and farming in the river basins and in the middle of the rivers too.

It ended up covering most of the Meso American area with how successful it became due to its economy based on agriculture.
