Anthony observes that when people are leaving class, about 50% turn left and about 50% turn right. Anthony wants to estimate the

probability that fewer than 3 of the first 4 students will turn left when leaving class tomorrow.
To do this, he lets H represent turning left when leaving class and T represent turning right. He then flips a coin 4 times, recording the results. He repeats this process for a total of 20 trials.

Answer: Hi! so:

H represent turning left when leaving class and T represent turning right,

Both of them have a 50% probability of happening.

and he wants to know the probability of less than 3 turn left so we wanna know the probability for only one to turn left and the probability for only two.

only one:

if you use the fact that we have a binomial distribution, then the Posibility that only one turns left is: \frac{4!}{(4-1)!*1!} *H^{1} T^{3}

so P(1)= (4!/3!)*0.5^{4}= 4*0.0625 = 0.25

only two:

with the same reasoning.

P(2) = 4!/(2!*2!)*0.0625=6*0.0625 = 0.375

here you can se that the probability is bigger because here are mas combinations that in the previous case.

So the total probability is 0.25 + 0.375 = 0.625.

The fact that he repeats the test n times doesnt change nothing, because he already know that you have a 50/50 chance of turning left of righth

Ryans living room is 10 feet wide, 12 feet long, and 10 feet high. If one gallon of paint covers 400 square feet of surface area
Delicious77 [7]
We have to calculate the suface of the four walls and the ceiling.
Surface of the four walls=2(10 ft * 10ft ) + 2(12 ft * 10 ft)=200 ft² + 240 ft²=
=440 ft²
Surface of the ceiling=10 ft * 12 ft=120 ft²

Total surface=440 ft² + 120 ft²=560 ft²

Now, we have to caluclate the number of gallons of paint.

1 gallon------------------------400 ft²
x----------------------------------560 ft²

x=(1 gallon * 560 ft²) / 400 ft²=1.4 gallons.

answer: Ryan need to paint all four walls and the ceiling 1.4 gallons.

Which matrix multiplication is possible?
ruslelena [56]

Answer: D

Step-by-step explanation:

dim A=(a,b), dim B=(c,d), in order to multiply, c=b

1) dim A=(1,2) , dim B=(1,2) but 2≠1

2) dim A=(2,1) , dim B=(2,2) but 1≠2

3) dim A=(2,2) , dim B=(1,2) but 2≠1

4) dim A=(2,1) , dim B=(1,2) 1=1: result (2,2)
