Contact [7]

Answer:

Skin color, a polygenic trait, is also determined by environmental factors.

Explanation:

In humans, skin color or pigmentation is a polygenic trait and is also determined by environmental factors such as exposure to the sun.

Polygenic traits are the traits which are controlled by two or more genes located on different chromosomes. For example, height, skin color, and color of the eyes.

John and Pat carry identical DNA however they exhibit different interaction of the polygenes and working conditions (environmental factors). For example, John works in a movie theatre and thus does not have much exposure to sun whereas Par works on the beach which is an open area and thus experience a lot of exposure from the sun.

Exposure to the sun leads to the darker skin and thus polygenic interactions and different environmental conditions lead to the variation in skin pigmentation in John and Pat.

Which of the following statements about the ubiquitination of proteins are true?
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

1) Ubiquitin is a relatively small protein that is widely expressed in eukaryotic cells.

2) It is covalently attached to target proteins in an ATP-dependent reaction.

4) Target selection is determined by ubiquitin-protein ligases.

Explanation:

Ubiquitin is a eukaryotic protein. It is very small in size and is highly conserved among the various species of eukaryotes. The function of ubiquitin is to mark an intracellular protein for degradation by proteasomes. Attachment of first ubiquitin to the target protein facilitates the joining of more ubiquitin molecules. The tagged protein enters proteolytic degradation. The ubiquitin molecules are covalently attached to a Lys residue in the target protein.

Ubiquitin specifically becomes covalently attached to the lysine residues of the target protein. This reaction is mediated by the ubiquitinating enzyme in an ATP dependent manner. Specific recognizing proteins recognize the target protein and facilitate the ligation of ubiquitin to target it for destruction by proteasomes.

jasenka [17]
What does an S–shaped curve for population growth suggesta) a delayed growth patternb) a logistic growth patternc) an exponential growth pattern?Under ideal conditions, populations of most species can grow at exponential rates. Curve A in Figure below represents exponential growth. The population starts out growing slowly. As population size increases, the growth rate also increases. The larger the population becomes, the faster it grows.

What type of growth pattern is exhibited by the fruit fly population? Is it the same type of growth as in the rabbit population?(1) Geometric growth is the typical pattern of population growth. However, there are organisms that have no distinct pattern. 3.
