A rock is radiometrically dated to determine its age. The laboratory doing the dating discovers that the rock currently has 200

atoms of radioactive parent isotope and 600 atoms of stable daughter product.
Assuming that the rock had 800 atoms of radioactive parent isotope and 0 atoms of daughter product at the time it formed, how old is the rock, if the half-life of the radioactive isotope is 1,000,000 years?

Answer: The rock is 2000785 years old.

Explanation:

Expression for rate law for first order kinetics is given by:

t=\frac{2.303}{k}\log\frac{a}{a-x}

where,

k = rate constant

t = age of sample

a = initial amount of the reactant  = 800

x = amount of daughter isotope = 600

a - x = amount left after decay process = amount of parent isotope = (800-600) = 200

Half life is the amount of time taken by a radioactive material to decay to half of its original value.

t_{\frac{1}{2}}=\frac{0.693}{k}

k=\frac{0.693}{1000000}=0.000000693years^{-1}

t=\frac{2.303}{0.000000693}\log\frac{800}{200}

t=2000785years

The rock is 2000785 years old.

Kegiatan manusia di iklim china
Doss [256]

The human activity in China's climate has had huge impact for the past few decades in particular. We can see it in two ways:

1. Negative effects; these are consisted in changing the climate on local level, but the problem is that those local changes are on lots of places. China has huge cities, the industry is the biggest in the world and not very caring about the environment, so the cities and their close surroundings have their own unique micro climate mainly because of the enormous pollution that changes the air structure and because of the overheating of all the infrastructure in the cities, as well as stopping the natural wind flows.

2. Positive effects; these can be seen in the Inner Mongolia province in China that is mainly desertous region. The scientists and the local population with mutual collaboration in the past few years are turning the desert into a green territory by using plants that are evergreen but also have no problems with extreme droughts and lack of water.

I think this is more of an opinionated question, but here are some ideas:

Well, it might be imperative to put more of a budget into rehab for inmates at prisons, sending them out as respectable people, instead of back onto the streets.

It might also help to work on helping families, putting kids into educations and better living environments then letting them grow up needing to sell drugs to provide for their families.
