Answer:

The correct answer will be option-D.

Explanation:

In a scientific experiment, the experiment is performed by dividing the sample into two groups- control and experimental.

In the control group, the samples are not treated with the variable being studied in the study that is it acts as an alternative to which the experimental samples in which the treatment is provided.

In the given question, since the effect of fertilizer on crops is being studied, therefore the fertilizer is the variable to be studied. So the crop with no fertilizer will be considered as a control group.

Thus, option-D is the correct answer.

Explain the phenomenon of photorespiration, including why it is thought to occur (evolutionarily speaking), and why plants have
liubo4ka [24]

Photorespiration limits casualty products of light reactions that build up in the absence of the Calvin cycle. In many plants, photorespiration is a problem because on a hot, dry day it can drain as much as 50% of the carbon fixed by the Calvin cycle. The closing of stomata reduces access to CO2 and causes O2 to build up. These conditions favor a seemingly not useful process called photorespiration. In most plants (C3 plants), initial fixation of CO2, via rubisco, forms a three-carbon compound. In photorespiration, rubisco adds O2 instead of CO2 in the Calvin cycle. Photorespiration eats up O2 and organic fuel and releases CO2 without producing ATP or sugar. Photorespiration can evolve relic because rubisco first evolved at a time when the atmosphere had far less O2 and more CO2.

A population _____ follows a period of ______.
leva [86]

Answer:

The correct option is A. decline, overshoot

Explanation:

Carrying capacity can be described as the maximum number of a particular population size that an ecosystem can hold. The resources such as food, water, space etc are enough for a specific number of species. Sometimes, when a population diebacks, there are more number of resources present than the consumers, so the consumers start to reproduce and expand. The population of these organisms then might overshoot the carrying capacity.
