Kublai Khan became the ruler of the Mongol empire. he was the ruler of Mongolians and conquered China. He also establishes the Yuan Dynasty in 1271 and took the title of Emperor of China.

I believe the US left Japan alone, unlike Hawaii, because of the havoc it would have caused. Which would have ruined their invasion. Also, the objective was to avoid Soviet influence in Japan.
