Explanation:

Hollywood films gained in popularity in the 1920s because there was increased financial prosperity during the 1920s. Now the middle class also had more disposable income to spend on leisure activities and entertainment. Technologies were also advancing and so there were more consumer goods available with better film-making techniques like adding sound to motion pictures.   During the 1920s, movies became increasingly popular. Stars of the cinema were beginning to emerge like Charlie Chaplin and Gloria Swanson.
