Microscopic protists and fungi can be characterized by studying their structure

Explanation:

Protists are the unicellular organisms whereas the fungi are multicellular organisms. In case of the fungi the cell has chitin but it is absent in case of protist. Fungi has septa which separates the fungal hyphae into sections but protist do not have septa.  Green algae, slime molds, euglena and amoeba are few examples of the protist whereas yeast, pichia, Basidiomycota and eomycota. Protists are of just three types but fungi have seven phyla.
