jennifer had 3/5 of a gallon of liquid shampoo and divided it evenly among 4 other bottles. How many gallons did she put into ea
kirill [66]
If the 3/5 was a whole number, it would all be simple. We would just put the number above 4 and divide. Easy, right?

Well, you do basically the same thing. Since having fractions over fractions confuse me, I'm going to put 3/5 into a decimal.
3/5=6/10=0.6

Now, I put that over 4, because there are 4 bottles.
0.6/4=6/40=3/20

She put 3/20 gallons into each bottle. Hope this helped!

How can I find the area of this Trapezoid?
worty [1.4K]
Trapezoid area = ((sum of the bases) ÷ 2) • height
It seems we'll have to count the lines in the graphic to get those lengths.
top base = 5
bottom base = 10
height = 6

Trapezoid area = (11 / 2) * 6

The perimeter of a rectangle is 86 cm. twice the width exceeds the length by 2cm. write a system and solve to find the dimension
topjm [15]
There are two equation of the system
(1) The perimeter
     2(w + l) = p
     2(w + l) = 86
(2) The length and the width
      2w = l + 2

From the second equation
2w = l + 2
l + 2 = 2w
l = 2w - 2

Subtitute l with 2w - 2 in the first equation to find the width
2(w + l) = 86
2(w + 2w - 2) = 86
2(3w - 2) = 86
6w - 4 = 86
6w = 90
w = 15

Now, find the length by subtituting w with 15
l = 2w - 2
l = 2(15) - 2
l = 30 - 2
l = 28

The dimension of the rectangle
length = 28 cm
width = 15 cm
