Answer:

The Church influence political and cultural changes in medieval Europe because they were the base of the government and were a social influence. Medieval Europe was largely based on Catholicism and created a social life and economy revolving around the religion's laws, which automatically placed the Church at the top of those countries. The lawmakers or mediation between God and the people was the Church filled with Bishops, a Pope, and priests. The people who make up the Church would say any command, and their word was law. The followers, citizens, because of religion created a society where they ended up empowering the Church, which later was separated from the government (Separation from Church and state originates) because of the clashes religion had with science, and the amount of lost followers who 'believed' i science which was seen as wrong during a specific time.

lesantik [10]

I'm not sure of the exact word you are looking for, but the general idea is that the federal law will always reign supreme if there is ever a conflict between the federal and state laws. Federal law is superior or higher-ranking or more preferable, etc.

Here is the exact phrasing from Article VI of the US Constitution: "This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding."
