Nancy wants to make a graph to show the relationship between the temperature of water, in degrees Celsius, and the time, in minu

tes, for which water is heated. She plots the following points:
(0, 50), (1, 60), (2, 70), (3, 80), (4, 90)

She uses the following steps to plot the graph:

Label origin as (0, 0).
On x-axis, label Time in minutes.
On y-axis, label Temperature in degrees Celsius.
The scale on x-axis starts from 0 and goes up to 5 at intervals of 1.
The scale on the y-axis starts from 0 and goes up to 200 at intervals of 50.

Which of the following best describes the graph?
A.) It will not be spread out horizontally across the entire coordinate plane because in Step 4, Nancy selected an incorrect scale on the x-axis.

B.) It will not be spread out vertically across the entire coordinate plane because in Step 5, Nancy selected an incorrect scale on the y-axis.

C.) It will not be spread out horizontally across the entire coordinate plane because in Step 2, Nancy plotted time instead of temperature on the x-axis.

D.) It will not be spread out vertically across the entire coordinate plane because in Step 3, Nancy plotted temperature instead of time on the y-axis.

Not entirely sure, but it seem the answer could be B.) It will not be spread out vertically across the entire coordinate plane because in step 5, Nancy selected an incorrect scale on the y-axis.

Can anyone help with either one of these
Vlada [557]
slope-point form:
we need the slope (m) and a point.
y-y₀=m(x-x₀)
Given two point A(x₁,y₂) and B(x₂,y₂), the slope of the line  is :
m=(y₂-y₁) /(x₂-x₁)

Example 3:
we can take two points:
A(12,2)
B(13,7)
m=(7-2) / (13-12)=5/1=5

therefore:
y-2=5(x-12)
y-2=5x-60
y=5x-60+2
y=5x-58

answer: y=5x-58

Example 4:
we can take two points.
A(0,0)
B(3,1)
m=(1-0)/(3-0)=1/3

Therefore:
y-0=1/3(x-0)
y=x/3

answer: y=x/3

PLEASE HELP THANKS!!
mafiozo [28]

Answer: a) x = 5   b) x = 12

Step-by-step explanation: For each one you just do the inverse to get it on the other side of the equal sign. For example x + 3 = 8 would be like this :

1. x + 3 = 8

2. x + 3 - 3 = 8 -3

    ( + 3 - 3 cancels out)

3. x = 5
