Adaptations are what organisms do in order for them to survive and adapt to the environments that Mother Nature is presenting them.

1. Crocodiles - have tough and scaled skin that allows them to camouflage and catch prey in the water

2. Frogs - have developed bodily fluids that secrete poison to prevent predators from attacking them

3. Bats - have developed their echolocation to help them in hunting for food at night time.

4. Coelachants - have maintained their extra fins for sensory motor in the water

5. Lampreys - have maintained their tooth-funnel like mouths in order to feed on their hosts.

There are 100 cats in a population that follows hardy-weinberg conditions. 4 cats display a recessive white coat color. how many
mr Goodwill [35]

We know that Hardy-Weinberg conditions include the following equations:

p^{2}+2pq+ q^{2}=1

where p+q=1

And where p = dominant, and q = recessive; this means that p^{2} is equal to the homozygous dominant, 2pq is the heterozygous, and q^{2} is the homozygous recessive .

So we have 100 total cats, with 4 having the recessive white coat color. That means we have a ratio of \frac{4}{100} or 0.04. Let that equal our q^{2} value.

So when we solve for q, we get:

q^{2}=0.04

q=\sqrt{0.04} =0.2

Now that we have our q value, we can use the other equation to find p:

p+q=1

p+0.2=1

p=0.8

So then we can solve for our heterozygous population:

2pq=2(0.8)(0.2)=0.32

This is the ratio of the population. So we then multiply this number by 100 to get the number of cats that are heterozygous:

0.32*100=32cats

So now we know that there are 32 heterozygous cats in the population.

A manager wanted to test whether the amount of noise in a clothing factory affected how
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

When seeking to determine the number of shirts made by employees subjected to noise with and without the use of headphones, the independent variable is the amount of noise.

Explanation:

During an investigation, the independent variable may be subject to change, in order to observe the effect it will have on the dependent variable.

In the case presented, the amount of noise to which employees are exposed represents the independent variable, which is modified by the use of headphones that block all or part of the noise.

The productivity —expressed in the number of shirts made— can be expected to be higher for employees not exposed to noise.

Other options do not apply because:

 • The number of shirts made by the employee. Dependent variable .
 • The type of music the employees listen to while they work or the amount of training employees need. These are not the variables studied.

Cerrena [4.2K]

To develop a particular fitness component, you must perform exercises that are designed particularly for that component. this is referred to specificity principle.

The Principle of Specificity in body fitness explains that fitness in any skill is earned through constant practice of the particular skill. This means that any training geared towards a sport should be specific with constant practice so as to improve the skill required for that sport.

This implies that

 • a swimmer should swim more to improve swimming performance.
 • a footballer should play more footballs to improve his footballing.
